An Open Day at the Krakovian Opera House

Krakow lacked its own Opera House for a long time – in the past most opera and ballet performances took place in the Słowacki Theatre which is not fully qualified to hold such events and in the old unattractive Operetta House which had been used as a horse-riding hall. In 2004 the first steps were taken to change this situation. That is how the construction of the new, “real” Opera House started in Krakow. The project was finally completed at the end of the last year.
Precisely a year from its greatly-celebrated opening, the Krakovian Opera House wants to invite everyone to have a closer look at it. During the Open Day the visitors will have an opportunity to see the stage and backstage premises, the technical abilities of the stage (trapdoors, trolleys and other interesting details) and, most importantly, to meet the Opera artists(Barbara Kędzierska, Laco Adamik, Andrzej Dobber, Magdalena Barylak, Ewa Biegas, Edyta Piasecka-Durlak).
This is, however, not everything. The organizers of the event invite everyone to enjoy many other additional attractions including: the photo exhibition by Jacek Wrzesiński titled “A Year in the Opera House,” a multimedia presentation, a competition organized by a language school (where it is possible to win a language course) and sweets’ degustation.
Visiting an Opera House with all its magic and secrets is always a good idea, then come to the new Opera House on 12th December.
