At the time when after watching a few TV shows, every Pole claims to be an expert on dancing, it might be an interesting experience to confront this idea with the attitude of people who devoted this art their entire life.
BaletOFF Meetings in Krakow is an event, which has been widely discussed in Polish dancing circles for several years now and which has already gained a faithful audience. For a few years BaletOff Meetings have been dominated by shows based on modern or contemporary dance.
Has such departure from classical forms of dancing been advantageous for the Festival? The audience will undoubtedly answer this question. However, the fact remains that modern experiments – also in the field of dancing – do not always end up successfully. Sometimes, it is good to show something from the well-tried and eternally beautiful classical repertory.
This year, the stage of the Nowa Huta Community Center (Nowohuckie Centrum Kultury) will hold the shows of the following groups: The Modern Dance Group “Forma”, Krakovian Dance Theatre ( with an interesting show titled “the Seventh Wife of the Eighth” which will present seven wives of Henry VIII), Dance Theatre “Vogue”, Dance Theatre “Alter”. Apart from the shows the participants will have a chance to see an exhibition of photographs by Jakub Szyma, titled “ The Winged ballet.”
