What is the 21st century art? What should it be? These and many other questions concerning the condition of art at the beginning of a new millennium will perhaps be answered during the Audio Art Festival which will dominate two weekends of November (20th – 22nd and 27th – 29th November) The organizers of the Festival will present artistic enterprises which will influence more than just one sense of the recipients because sound virtuosos as well as masters of word and visual arts will participate in the event.
These various artistic forms will make use of the latest technological inventions – but they will not forget about simple instruments produced at home. The most important is imagination and inventiveness, which might have different, sometimes very “simple”, faces. The Audio Art is supposed to have an effect on our sight and hearing without making any of these senses seem superior, so the artists from Lima, New York, Istanbul, London, the Hague or Tokyo will make the audience “hear the picture” and “see the sound.” During the Festival we will also have a chance to meet with Polish artists who will present their works, which break artistic conventions, in Bunkier Sztuki and Akademia Musyczna (Music Academy).
The event will be full of surprising concerts, performances and installations. All the Festival happenings will be broadcasted on-line. The Festival is supported by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, the city of Krakow, pro-Helvetia Foundation and Goethe Institute.
