The Biblical Babel Tower was a place of quarrels and misunderstandings because, by God’s will, the constructors of this cursed building started to speak diverse languages. The ones who would like to hear the sound of several different languages spoken in the same place and at the same time should go to the Community Center of Śródmieście (Śródmiejski Ośrodek Kultury) in Mikołajska Street in the evening of 24th June. On that day between 6p.m. and 10 p.m. you will have a chance to get the gist of about 30 different languages during mini courses conducted by native speakers.
The “classes” will be held in English (in its three different varieties: Australian, American and British), Chinese, Croatian, Czech, Esperanto, Finish, French, Hindi, Spanish (including its Mexican version), Dutch, German, Russian, Romanian, Lithuanian , Slovakian, Swedish, Turkish, Ukrainian, Urdu, Hungarian, Italian and Polish (for foreigners). You will also have a chance to learn to say your name in 27 languages and receive the Polyglot Certificate. The participants may also expect a few lectures, film shows and a concert “The Musical Babel Tower.” All the events except for a concert are free of charge.
This unusual night is organized by the Community Center of Śródmieście, the International Association of Esperanto Teachers (ILEI) and the Scientific Association of Orientalists with Esperanto section.
