Krakow is My Home

Contest organised by a paper, “Gazeta Krakowska” and the Municipal Council
Again citizens of Krakow will have a chance to express their opinions on their city, indicating developments which, according to them, were the most interesting. During the contest “Krakow is My Home” organized by a paper, “Gazeta Krakowska” and the Municipial Council, the most beautiful buildings of the year 2007 will be selected. Everyone can vote for various constructions in four categories: dwellings, open spaces, general public, restoration and revitalization.
The dwellings category refers both to housing estates and individual buildings. The open spaces category includes such investments as the new pavement of the Mały Rynek square, Wszystkich Świętych square, the Garden of Experiments named after Stanisław Lem or the new playground in Jordan’s Park. Wyspiański 2000 Pavilion has the biggest chance to win in the general public category as it has gathered the most votes so far.
The last category, restoration and revitalisation, includes very interesting investments, which have one thing in common: a complete change of image. Cracovians can well remember a neglected building of Bishop Erazm Ciołek’s Palace in Kanonicza Street or the former building of Cezal in Wielicka street. Before, they were discouraging for most of the tourists, but today they are full of visitors.
The jury consisting of architects and municipal authorities will announce the winner on 19th June during a gala event in the seat of the Municipal Council of Krakow. Therefore, there is still some time to vote for the most beautiful building in Krakow.
