The Great Holiday of Krakow

June is a special time in Krakow as in this month the city celebrates another anniversary of its foundation. Although Krakow had its round anniversary (750th ) last year, this year’s holiday will also be attractive both for children and adults.
Officially, the whole festival starts on 5th June, but unofficially, the first events will take place already on 1st June as the municipal authorities did not forget about the youngest inhabitants of Krakow. Therefore, on the Children’s Day all kids and their families will have a chance to take part in the city game, called “Legends with an Egg,” in which all participants will look for a dragon’s egg hidden somewhere in the city.
Then, the following Thursday, an official part of the celebration begins. There are many exhibitions and concerts planned for this occasion. For example during the show called “Foundation of Krakow. Past – Present – Future” Grzegorz Turnau, Homo Twist and Maria Peszek will perform for their audience. We may also expect gymnastic and dance performances, crowning of the King of the Longbow Fraternity and a review of educational projects organised in Cracovian schools.
During the holiday we will also see the traditional Dragons’ Parade. This year the dragons are said to come from the most distant galaxy, but, as usual, they will appear on the Market Square. Then, there will be the contest for the most beautiful dragon of the parade. Apart from that people in Krakow may take part in competitions, concerts and the knight’s fair. The whole event will be concluded by an outdoor Dragon Show at the embankment of the Vistula River. During the Days of Krakow two streets Bracka and Gołębia, which are incredibly important for the students of the city, will have their holiday. The young will undoubtedly celebrate this event to the best of their ability.
It seems that if the weather is fine, we will face a series of unforgettable events which will constitute an interesting introduction to the summer holidays.
