Fifth Night of Museums in Krakow

The Night of Museums has already proved very attractive for the people of Krakow – every year the whole event gathers a bigger audience. One could even risk a statement that Cracovians wait for the Night of Museums all year long. The event is part of the Cracovian Nights cycle which includes, for example Nights of Theatre or Nights of Jazz. This year it has also been covered by the “six senses” project.
The Night of Museums is more important and attractive every year. This year it will happen for the fifth time. The main topic of the event is the 90th anniversary of regaining independence by Poland. As a result, apart from their permanent expositions, many museums will also show objects and photographs connected with the topic of independence. In the Polish Home Army Museum in the Wita Stwosza street it will be possible to see a military drill, in the National Museum everyone will have a chance to take part in the series of lectures and workshops and in the Historical Museum of the City of Krakow many people will welcome the opportunity to watch some films concerning Polish independence. Then, in the Etnographic Museum there are plans for a shared singing of military songs which date from the period of the 1st World War, interactive workshops and a hot military treat. This will surely built up strength of the exhausted participants of the Museum Night.
Traditionally, all museums will be open for visitors for a symbolic charge of 1 PLN – all the participants will receive an occasional coin which will serve as a ticket to all places. Apart from that, during this one night, holders of the coin will be entitled to use two special lines of public transport called N1 and N2 free of charge. The routes of these lines are available on the webpage of the Public Transport Company (MPK). The museums are open from 6:00p.m./7:00p.m. until 2:00 a.m.
